Motorcycle Accident Kills Man

A motorcycle accident has claimed the life of a man in Galveston, Texas. On Thursday night, 35-year-old Cody Frankum was traveling on 8 Mile Road on his motorcycle when it collided with a tractor-trailer. The driver of the tractor-trailer was attempting to turn onto 8 Mile Road from FM 3005 when the two vehicles collided at around 11:30 p.m. Frankum and his passenger, 22-year-old wife Carole Frankum, were ejected from the motorcycle and Cody was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Carole sustained critical injuries and remains hospitalized. The accident is under investigation to determine which driver is responsible for the crash.

Motorcycle accidents result in serious injuries and fatalities due to the lack of protection offered by the vehicle. Passenger vehicles are enclosed providing some protection to the motorists in the event of a crash, as well as offering safety devices such as seatbelts and airbags. The openness of the motorcycle is typically one of the reasons drivers choose to operate the vehicle. While reckless driving by the motorcyclist can cause an auto accident, the negligent driving of other travelers is more often the cause. If you have been injured or lost a loved one in a motorcycle accident, you may have grounds to file an accident case.
