Fatal Car Accident Possibly Caused by DUI

A car accident in Colorado has resulted in one fatality and two individuals seriously injured. The accident happened in Lakewood on Monday morning. According to Lakewood Police, a vehicle was traveling on 6th Avenue eastbound when a male driver lost control of the vehicle resulting in a crash. As the driver lost control, the vehicle veered off the roadway, struck a guardrail and overturned several times. The driver was ejected from the vehicle and transported to the hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. A passenger, 19-year-old Kayla Ann Flinchpaugh, sustained serious head trauma resulting in her death. Another female passenger was also injured and transported to the hospital for treatment. The accident is under investigation, and preliminary results indicate drugs and alcohol may have caused the crash.
